Interesting Traffic

Here's Donna watching a big one leave Leverick Bay. Since the Bitter End Yatch Club is about a mile to the east of us and the North Sound is fully protected from all directions, we see a lot of great boat traffic. Need a telescope for sure.

The view from that tiny beach

Looking southeast across the North Sound to a hill on Virgin Gorda.

A tiny beach on the North Sound

This beach is on Prickly Pear Island about mile across the Sound from Last Tack. It's not much bigger than what you see in this picture and its framed by rocks on all sides.

Good place for a book and some snorkeling.

Columbus came with the house

The former owners told us to expect a "skinny black and white cat named 'Columbus'", and most mornings he shows up looking for a snack and some attention. This nap was prompted by some left-over steak he had for breakfast.

January 2006 Visit

Kent and Donna Straat joined us at Last Tack in January. This is Donna and Susan looking good at Little Dix Bay (in a picture nicely composed by Kent).

Kent and Donna had never been to British Virgins before and were impressed with the physical beauty and the friendliness of the people. They brought excellent weather with them and we were happy to reciprocate some of their hospitality shown to us over the years.

Before --- a bedroom

The knotty pine walls were a wonderful photographic reproduction of the real thing, but in 1977 it probably seemed like a good idea. It certainly was better than the standard dark mahogany that most of these houses used.

After --- a bedroom

Before --- The Kitchen

We took down the cabinets and the curtains and painted it all white.

Before

Here's the living room as it was when we bought the house---below is the current look after some paint, new cushions and pillows and some furniture rearragement.

Most of the books stayed---a very nice library to inherit.

Friday night at the Beach

Susan dancing with the Moko Jumbies

Every Friday night during the season the local resort at Leverick Bay has a beach barbeque with dancing and these guys on stilts, who are called the Moko Jumbies. Not sure where the name came from, but Susan likes saying it.

November 2005 Visit

Our new boat.

We took delivery of a 14 foot Caribe inflatable with a 40 horse Yamaha. Great for scooting around the North Sound. We can reach a half dozen beaches or restaurants by water.
